You may or may not have heard of the forest and peat fires that are burning all across Russia.
All thought not threatened by the fire, when the wind is blowing in the right direction, or in this case the wrong direction, the city gets blanketed with the smoke or smog form these fires. So we are forced to stay indoors and keep our windows closed. This wouldn't seem too bad if it wasn't the fact that we are also in the middle of a prolonged heat wave with record
temperatures. (It hasn't rained in almost 2 months) Today we are expecting it to be 39 or 40c and without an air conditioner it gets quite warm inside. But there is a little
glimmer of hope on the
horizon as we expect
temperatures to drop back to around 30c in a few days. The photos were taken from our windows around 11am today.
